Why I've been missing

Hi everyone,

I know I've been gone since the end of August and its almost FOUR months since. If I've ever felt that time passes quickly, I've never felt it more strongly in the past three months. At the same time, I felt that it could not pass fast enough. Confusing huh? Remember back in June when I mentioned I'll be entering my final year soon? (this post) Well, that's what happened. That's what got in the way. I reached a point where I realized that I could do only one thing perfectly and I would have to leave the rest so that I could do it right. I felt that that was a wise choice, once I finished that, I could continue with the rest of my life. And so I did exactly that! I decided to forgo all sources of entertainment -movies, social media, hangouts and all hobbies - blogging, reading, running, just so I could concentrate on final year placements and I'm happy that I did because I was able to secure an awesome job. I wasn't able to stay completely away from Twitter though..oops. I'm sorry I just abruptly stopped without any explanation, but I honestly didn't think it would take sooo long :( I thought I'll be back in a month, but then it slowly became two and three and finally I got a relief in the form of holidays. But I'm glad that busy phase is over, and now I can do some fun stuff and catch up on all that missed out on !

For all of you who were worried, all your messages warmed me right up! It feels nice to be missed :)

PS: hope you like the new theme, Happy Holidays !!!!!!!!

Four Fountains De-Stress Spa Experience

Last weekend, I got the opportunity to try out Four Fountains De-Stress Spa and I’d like to share my experience with you. I went to the Powai branch, which is moderately easy to locate because of the banner outside the building. If you're confused, you can always call the spa and ask for directions.

Four Fountains De-Stress Spa, Powai

From my visit, I can conclude that Four Fountains is really serious about de-stressing. The waiting area has a backrest which has been specially handcrafted using wooden beads to massage the back. There is an aroma of lemon grass diffused throughout the spa, I’m a huge fan of citrus-y scents. The door handles massage pressure points on the palm which releases pent up stress and right after your spa is complete, you are served green tea which helps to stay relaxed. The ambiance has mostly wooden bits and bobs, like a cabinet housing some candles and show-pieces.

Rave!! Parachute Summer Refresh Body Lotion Spray

During summers, I came across this really pocket-friendly, innovative and super useful lotion from Parachute. Parachute happens to be brand that I tend to overlook, but luckily, I spotted this during one rare trip to a convenience store. This is a body lotion that has to be dispersed with a spray… yeah! Something that can get through the nozzle of a spray has to be very thin right? Well this one absolutely is! It’s a very lightweight lotion that spreads easily, get absorbed quickly and moisturizes the skin as well. I’m very finicky about lotions being lightweight because I hate the feeling of having something on my skin.

Nail Polish Crush ! ~ Rimmel Lively Lilac

Rimmel I Love Lasting Finish Range Lively Lilac Review

So its official, I have a crush on this nail color. Its called “Lively Lilac” and its from the Rimmel I <3 Lasting Finish Range. I just can’t stop wearing it. It’s a lilac that doesn’t look dull, and unlike most pastels, it doesn’t make hands look tanned. Very “lively” indeed. Its brighter than it looks in the some of the pictures. With Lively Lilac, one coat is nice, but not enough. My nails need two coats for complete opacity. It is definitely streaky but you can even out the streakiness by layering. The polish looked nice and fresh for 5 days after which I removed it. It did fade from the tips but that’s something I experience with every polish, even the ones that claim to stay for 10 days! I was happy too see that except for tip fading, there weren’t any major problems in the wear, it didn’t chip or turn yellow-y(that happens when your fingers mix with turmeric). I don’t do any work in the kitchen with my hands though, I just wash them a lot. Now here’s the sad part: Firstly, it makes my nails orange, and secondly, I’ve had this polish for just a month and its already thickened up so much. It might have thickened up because I’ve used it every week, but still, this is not something that I expected after owning the polish for just one month.

Utility Pouches from India Circus

I must say, I have been enjoying these utility pouches, or makeup bags as I like to call them, of late. They are pretty great multi taskers with respect to storage, and the fact that they have quirky prints and pretty colors makes them all the more reachable. I haven’t used both bags for long, but so far the quality seems great. Here are the two pouches that I choose:

The Body Shop Lychee Blossom Shower Gel... Yeah, Lychee :D

I’ve tried a lot of fruity skincare products in the past, raspberry, blueberry, cocout, passionfruit… You name it and I have tried it.. Or so I thought, till I came across this Lychee Blossom shower gel by The Body Shop. I have never come across ‘Lychee’ (or as I like to spell it ‘Litchi’) in a product before. Did you know that this exists, or maybe I’m not the only one living under a rock all this time?

Rave!! NYX Single Eye Shadow in Purple (Review, Swatch, EOTD and Where to Buy)

Today I have an exciting product to share with you! Yes, its an eyeshadow, but its not just any shadow, it’s one of NYX’s bestselling single eye shadow – ES32 Purple. Since Orchid happens to be Pantone’s Color of the Year this year and Purple falls on the deeper end of this spectrum I thought I’d share this little delight with you! Frankly, its much easier to wear purple than orchid on the eyes, especially for Indian skin tones.

Maybelline Total Clean Express Eye and Lip Makeup Remover -Review, Price, Demo

I have not had the best (to say the least) experience with makeup removers in the past. Makeup remover is a vital part of my cleansing routine because once you start wearing makeup, you’ll need some cleanser which is powerful enough to take off all those long wearing products yet gentle enough to not harm your skin in the process. Because of these high demands, I don’t mind spending a bit more this part of my skincare, however, even expensive brands can fail to fulfil such basic requirements. I was on the hunt of a good makeup remover and along the same time, the Maybelline Clean Express Makeup Remover had just been introduced in the market. I’ve almost always had a good experience with Maybelline, also the attractive packaging lured me to try out this makeup remover. I have tried the old Maybelline remover but I found it very oily so I was hoping this one would be better.

The New Revlon Colorstay Concealer Review, Swatch, Demo

Concealers and foundations are some of the trickiest makeup products I’ve come across. You have to keep trying and trying till you get the right shade, texture and longevity that you desire, and if you don’t a large amount of money is lost. I‘ve used only 2 concealers so far and Revlon Colorstay is my second one. One thing that stops me from experimenting with concealers and foundations is that if you’re looking for something along the lines of medium coverage, they’re damn pricey, even drugstore brands sell them at an exorbitant price. Today I’m going to review a pricey “drugstore” concealer that is the Revlon Colorstay Concealer.

Sleek Makeup iDivine Oh So Special Palette Review, Swatches and lots of Pictures!

The ‘Oh So Special’ palette by Sleek has been on my wishlist since a long time and after a lot of hiccups it finally made its way to me! I purchased it from the Sleek Makeup website which ships internationally. I didn’t have the best experience with them, and you can read about it here. I was really excited to try out this palette. These eye shadows are mineral shadows and it’s the first time that I’ve tried some mineral makeup.

My thoughts on Sleek iDivine ‘Oh So Special’ Eye shadow Palette:

Packaging: It comes in a sleek black case and inside there’s a plastic sheet between the eyeshadows and the mirror. There are 12 shades in this palette. The names of each shade are written on the plastic sheet. I do wish that the shade names were written on the palette instead of that plastic coz anybody is bound to throwaway the plastic after sometime. It has a sponge tip applicator.

Street Wear Color Rich Ultramoist Lipstick in Spell Bound (27) and Ruby Riddle (9) Review, Swatches, Photos

Street Wear recently revamped its collection and made it a lot more attractive!! Even then, I wasn’t tempted to purchase anything from them, because I felt that at the prices they are sold at, the quality would definitely leave something to be desired. However, when I casually strolled towards the Revlon counter to check out the new collection, I couldn’t resist taking a peak at the new Street Wear collection. One thing lead to another and soon I was swatching one lipstick after another, searching for some shade that I didn’t already have and finally I brought two shades. You should have seen my hand!! I had a hard time getting the colors off, the SAs don’t even have a good makeup remover. The lipstick range is called ‘Color Rich Ultramoist Lipstick’.If you’re wondering where to find this collection, I found one Street Wear counter at Lifestyle, it was a part of the Revlon counter.  The reason why I picked up these colors, inspite of my apprehensions, is that I was looking for two colors- a peach for my skintone and an everyday pink, and after swatching two shades, I felt that I’d hit jackpot, cause I certainly couldn’t find these colors in any other drugstore brand!

Stuff That's NOT Working Out #2- Why I Will Never EVER Buy These 'Makeup Removers' Again

You know that Taylor Swift song which goes like, 'We are never, ever, ever, getting back together.....

When I remove my makeup, I expect that its going to be one of the last things I do that night in the cleansing department. The max I’m willing to do after removing makeup is to use a cleanser just to get rid of any residue from the remover. And that’s not the last step of my night time skincare, I follow it up with a toner, eye cream and moisturizer, if I have some pimples coming through, then I’ll have to apply a pimple buster as well. My point is, there is so much to do at the end of the day that anything which requires extra steps just pisses me off!

Revlon Eye and Lip Makeup Remover, Rimmel Gentle Eye Make Up Remover Oil Free, The Body Shop Camomile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover

I’ve gone through a lot of makeup removers and the first one I tried was the old Maybelline remover & it was way too oily and really put me off oil based cleansers completely. Which is why I came across 3 really bad makeup removers, they aren’t completely useless, but they fall quite close to that line. So when you go out to buy a new makeup remover for yourself, keep these bad eggs out of your shopping list.

The First Easily Available Dry Shampoo in India - L'Oreal Techni Art Fresh Dust Dry Shampoo Review

Dry Shampoo have always sounded magical to me. You spray something on your head, and all of the oiliness (which normally needs two shampoo washes) is gone...whoosh! Like magic, no? Your hair frames your face and unless its not in proper shape, you’ll feel incomplete. I longed to have such a savior because my scalp gets oily sooner than the rest of my hair, and I wanted to postpone my hair wash by a day, or two . Any girl/woman who has a busy life will realize the importance of postponing hair wash by a day. Imaging that you have an exam tomorrow, but your scalp is greasy; you were so busy studying, you forgot to wash your hair all these days. Now what will you do? Take a head bath and risk losing a precious hour of study? Or maybe you can sleep lesser and utilize that time to wash your hair? If you had a dry shampoo you wouldn't have to lose any time.

If you don't know what a dry shampoo is, read THIS article, its pretty helpful!

Sadly I realized that dry shampoos are not available in India, I searched all international shopping sites to find dry shampoos what would fit my budget but I couldn’t find any. Then L’Oreal came to my rescue by introducing their Techni Art Fresh Dust Dry Shampoo earlier this year.  I grabbed it the minute my nearby salon stocked it, and they had stocked just one! :O

My Summer Most Used Makeup Products & Favorites...!

This summer I had a lot of fun experimenting with color, my favorites were bright pink, turquoise and yellow. Summers are very humid in Mumbai and the first time I wore a full face of makeup, I was sweating so much, it felt like my face was melting off. There after I decided to go light on base makeup and I’ve just been experimenting to see what works will in the heat, unfortunately sans primer, nothing works for more than 2 hours. Anyways, here’s my most worn makeup for this summer, not all are favourites though, I’ve added my thoughts on each product so you know how I feel about them. This is a picture heave post, hope you enjoy it!

You can also check out My Summer Skincare+Tips Post .

I loved using the Rimmel Liquid Cheek Tints because they were quick and fuss free and as long as I’m in ac they last for nearly 5 hours. The Cheeky Glow blush in Fresh Coral is a beautiful pink shade that suits all the pink lipsticks I wore this season. It does have a hint of coral but is mostly a nice brightening pink blush for me.

(Clockwise from top) Sleek Antique, Rimmel Sunkissed Cherry, Maybelline Fresh Coral, Rimmel Pop of Pink
The Sleek Limited Edition Antique blush is the only disappointing one of the lot, though it looks good it pictures, it has glitter that can travel across your cheek area. However it gives a glowy look to the face and can be used to fake a glow in pictures.

If you're lazy about nail art, try Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat Nail Polish in Fuzz-Sea for a quick and easy mani !

I wanted to try the Fuzzy Range of Sally Hansen since I first saw it on a blog a year ago. I am no good at nail art. I tried it just once in THIS post, and I found it tough. Luckily this range came to India last year. Fuzzy Range basically gives a textured look to the nails. I think its pretty unique, which is why it didn’t hurt that much when I shelled out over 500 Rs for this bottle. All polishes in the Fuzzy Range contain matte bar glitter in two colors, held by a clear base.

Sally Hansen Fuzz Coat Nail Polish Fuzz Sea Review India

Company Claims (taken from US website):
The ultimate outfit for your nails! Sally Hansen continues to lead the nail category with new 3D, unique textures inspired by fashion. Fuzzy Coat transforms nails with a 3D textured, woven fiber effect.
  • Unique fiber texture
  • Creates a 3D look
  • Multidimensional shades
  • Dries quickly
  • Available in eight shades: Wool Lite, Fuzz Fantasy, Fuzz-Sea, Peach Fuzz, All Yarned Up, Wool Knot, Tight Knit, Tweedy

Fuzz-Sea has turquoise and yellow matte bar glitter. In the bottle, the blue strips look more green. The brush is nice and you get quite a bit of those turquoise & yellow strips on the nails. It can be applied in the normal way, if you want to layer it to get more glitter than dab it over the initial layer. Fuzz-Sea gives a nice pop of color to the nails, it can be worn as it is or over any other color (except blue and yellow obviously!). Since its named ‘Fuzz-Sea’, the strips should have been in shades of blue, that would have been soo pretty.

Sally Hansen Fuzz Coat Nail Polish Fuzz Sea Review India
Fuzz Sea Over Lakme Color Crush 08
I first tried this over Lakme Color Crush 08, a pure white color. I LOVED the combo, I thought ‘it can’t get better than this!!!’ Then I tried it over Faces Candyfloss Matte, which is a bubblegum pink color and I was speechless! Ok, I’m being dramatic, what I meant to say is that the turquoise-pink-yellow combination is amazing and those three have actually been my colors this summer. Also, such textured effect nail polishes are great for people who aren’t at ease with nail art, everyone will certainly be in awe of your nails. I was asked so many times ‘How did you do it??’

In India, The Fuzzy Range retails for Rs.540($5.29 in US) for 9.17ml. The quantity will last a lifetime, but its still on the pricier side. This is a one time release only, so if you really like it, grab it before it disappears.

L'Oreal Shine Caresse Lip Color Bella (604) - Review and Swatch

I’m a huge fan of the L'Oreal Paris Shine Caresse Lip Color in the shade Milady (603) and while purchasing that I couldn’t resist picking up one more because the shades and packaging are very pretty and quite unique. I’ll be reviewing the shade Bella (604) today, its a popular shade and I can see why!

PACKAGING ~ The Shine Caresse lip colors are housed in a shiny gold tube with a little transparent band that allows a glimpse of the color within. If you plan to own many of these tubes, you can easily locate a shade without having to read the cap for the name. The applicator has a sponge tip which is bud shaped, the centre has a little dip so that it can hold the product. The sponge tip of the applicator is the same color as the lip color, the applicator is easy to use and precisely deposits color on the lips. It’s a beauty, you will love having this pretty tube in your collection!

A summer must have: NYX Single Eye Shadow in Kiwi (Review, Swatch, EOTD and Where to Buy)

If you’re a makeup addict, the best thing about summers is that you can wear bright colors without everyone staring unnecessarily. I remember when I first wore Maybelline’s Bold Mat 2 during monsoon, a rude aunty just kept staring at me..ugh.  But we don’t have to worry about that once summer arrives! I discovered this bright green eyeshadow call NYX Kiwi last year on Jabong and ever since I got it, I’ve been in love with it. I’m a little partial to greens because they compliment my brown eyes and in general, they are way more wearable than most colors for Indian skintones like mine. I actually couldn’t find any reviews which focussed on just this particular eye shadow and because I love it so much I decided that I’ll review it. Also, if like me, people who live in countries where NYX isn’t easily available or isn’t cheap, need to double check so that they can be sure of what they’re buying, this review will help you.

NYX Single Eye Shadow in Kiwi Review EOTD

Price: Rs.375 (~$6)
Qty: 2.7gm
NYX single eye shadows are not listed on the NYX website but I seriously hope they’re not discontinued!

Packaging:
Nyx Kiwi is from they’re single eye shadow range. It comes in a cute square-with-round-edges plastic box with transparent front cover so you can see the shade with ease. The packaging is ok, I do wish the transparent plastic didn’t get dirty so easily. The plastic attracts dirt alot :(

We all need a little yellow sometimes! Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in Mellow Yellow (360) Review and NOTD

Today I’ll be telling you about one of my all-time favourite nail colors, especially for summers, though I have worn it in winters as well. Ever since I saw a pastel yellow nail polish by Inglot, I was besotted! I knew I had to have that in my collection. But my vanity is a bit conscious; I wasn’t ready to spend Rs.600($10) on a nail polish, though in hindsight it seems more logical! I tried to find a budget friendly pastel yellow and after a lot of searching I found Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow (360) in their Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear range.

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in Mellow Yellow (360)

There are 45 colors in the Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear range.

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Nail Color in Mellow Yellow (360)

Mellow Yellow is a bright pastel yellow color! It is the prettiest, not-in-your-face kind of yellow I’ve come across. The best part is that its not overly expensive. I got it for Rs.250(~$4). If you love bright shades, you must try out a color like this, instantly cheers you up! I’m not a fan of the bright, proper yellow because it won’t suit my tanned arms, this relatively paler shade goes really well with my skin tone.

Coz plain ol' lipstick ain't good enough? Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Polish in Glam 13 - Review, Swatches, Price

Maybelline lip polishes are Maybelline’s offering to the lipgloss-lipstick hybrids which are trending this year. I thought of picking up at least one of these since they are offered in sooo many colors and fit my budget nicely! I love the L’Oreal Shine Caresse Lip Colors and I was curious to know how Maybelline’s lip polish would compete against it since they both are sold at a mere Rs.50 difference, with the Lip Polish being the cheaper option. There are two ranges, POP (bright colors) and GLAM(comparatively subtle shades). And these are known as Color Elixirs in US. I’ll be reviewing the shade Glam 13 and telling you if this offering is indeed glam or not!

Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Polish in Glam 13 review

What Maybelline Says about Color Sensational Lip Polish(taken from brand website):
For glossy, plump lips, choose Maybelline’s Lip Polish by Color Sensational.
Featuring glossy, vivid colors that also have a moisturizing effect, this lip polish makes your lips look fuller and more luscious. Dress your lips in a shade you love and watch heads turn!

A trio of concentrates delivers the color of a lipstick, the cushiony care of a balm, and the glass shine of a gloss
Our exclusive smoothing angora brush delivers a polished , even application and smoothing sensation to lips

Here’s why you’ll love it:
• Has pure, saturated color pigments that provide deep intense color
• Acts as a moisturizing liquid conditioning balm
• Gives a soft cushiony feel to the lips
• Features a built-in glossy top-coat that makes lips look fuller
• Comes with a specially designed leaf-shaped applicator for quick, precise application

My take on Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Polish in Glam 13:

PACKAGING ~ The Lip Polish comes in a tube which is quite small, and is really cute. The color looks like a lipstick in the tube, how unique! The applicator is leaf shaped, and is really easy to use and reaches every centimetre of my lips. I love that it’s the same color as the shade, attention to details girls!

Undoubtedly, one of the best ads!

I saw this one on TV last week, on a lazy night when I was just staring at the TV without actually registering anything and it really made me jump, sit up and watch. Just wanted to share it with all of you!! It is one of the best ads I've seen in a loooooong time, I swear all ads these days are so unnecessarily adult, this one is sweet and actually brings the message across.

Did you like it? :D

Rimmel Stay Blushed Liquid Cheek Tints in Pop of Pink (001) and Sunkissed Cherry (004)- Review and Swatches

I’ve been meaning to put up posts on my blog but I’m feeling so uninspired lately. That’s what happens when you’re on vacays, more time equals slowing down of brain. Today I’m feeling invigorated. Why? Because I took a ride on Mumbai’s metro..boy is that baby fast!! I totally loved it, now I feel like travelling only through metro. I also saw Holiday last week…no I didn’t like it. It has a lovely message but the film has so many unrealistic elements.

Anyways, let’s talk makeup. We all love makeup that works without much effort.  I get like 5 min to put on makeup and head out the door, if you’re a working woman or a college student, you’ll can empathize. Rimmel Stay Blushed Liquid Cheek Tints are one of those products that will help you speed up your makeup but falls short in one important aspect.

Empty Plastic Spray Bottles from eBay India- Really Cheap, yet Chic

Recently while searching Google for empty spray bottles I came across one entry from eBay India. I've never shopped from eBay India or eBay international before but I'm really impressed with this particular seller. I placed my order on 16th June and received my package on 18th June. I also received a message from eBay when my package was shipped and when I should expect to receive it, although they were wrong about the date of arrival, it arrived one day earlier.

What I ordered:
Just one set of empty plastic spray bottles. See THIS link for the product
Cost:Rs.180
The seller also gave a pamphlet of his store and on the pamphlet its written that 'If your product is not available in our store please mail me. We provide for you". How thoughtful!

I wasn't sure what I was buying because the product name on eBay is basically like a bunch of keywords so I contacted the seller first. He/She was Very prompt and replied back within few hours of my query. So if you plan on purchasing from them do contact them and ask for shipping details. I even received an email from them after I placed my order.

Basically you get 4 empty plastic spray bottles. of 100ml each, for just Rs.180, with free shipping. Awesome, right?

The colors are given randomly. The bottles are of good quality and the spraying mechanism actually works well. Each time the first 3 pumps are empty and then the bottle starts spraying. The nozzle is very fine and right now I tried it with just water and it sprays it in a fine mist. I think its great for perfumes.

So if your planning any DIY projects which require spray bottles, now you know where to find them. You can even use spray bottles to store you toners or homemade perfumes or as a perfume atomizer.

Can you guess what I need it for? I will be revealing soon...stay tuned ladies ;)
